Father Charles Henkel was named the first pastor of St. Therese Parish in July 1925. The first Mass was offered on August 9 in St. Nicholas Hall. Shortly thereafter, the Sunday Masses were moved to the auditorium of Oak Park School, which was within the parish boundaries. Proceeding quickly, a plan to build a one-story church ( which was soon increased to 2 stories to house a school) was developed in August. On September 5, a contract was entered into with Hutter Construction Company of Fond du Lac, for a price of $29,800
